Find a legal spot before you circle the block
This map pulls every NYC DOT street parking sign for the blocks you're looking at and reads them for you. Each curb is colored for what its signs allow at the time you choose, and each dot is a sign pole you can tap to read exactly what's posted.
It covers all five boroughs: alternate side street cleaning, No Parking and No Standing zones, bus stops, commercial and truck loading zones, school zones, metered and time-limited parking, and the 15 feet around every fire hydrant.
How to read the map
- Green curb: no posted rule stops you parking here at the selected time. Meters and time limits may still apply.
- Red curb: a rule is in effect, like street cleaning, No Standing, a bus stop or a hydrant.
- Orange curb: a sign's hours couldn't be read. Check the posted sign.
- Dot: a sign pole. Tap it to read every sign on it, with a link to Street View.
The map tells you where. The app tells you when.
Streetside Parking saves where you parked the moment you turn off the car, reads the signs on your side of the block, and reminds you before street cleaning. When the city suspends alternate side parking, you get an alert so you don't move for nothing.

Questions
Where does the parking sign data come from?
From NYC DOT's parking regulation sign records, published on NYC Open Data. The map loads them live for the blocks you're looking at, along with street centerlines and fire hydrant locations.
What do the curb colors mean?
Green means no posted rule stops you from parking there at the selected time. Red means a rule is in effect, like street cleaning, No Standing, No Parking, a bus stop, or the 15 feet around a fire hydrant. Orange means a sign's hours couldn't be read, so check the posted sign.
Does the map know when alternate side parking is suspended?
No. The map shows street cleaning rules as posted. On holidays and other days when the city suspends alternate side parking, those curbs are fine to park on. Check today's ASP status or the ASP suspension calendar.
Can I check whether I can park somewhere later?
Yes. Open Check another time, pick a day and time, and every curb on the map is recolored for that moment.
Is the map always right?
The city's sign data is very good but not perfect, and temporary signs for construction, film shoots and events aren't in it. The signs on the street are what's enforced, so give them a glance before you walk away.
Sign, street and hydrant data: NYC DOT and NYC DEP via NYC Open Data. Streetside Parking is not affiliated with NYC DOT.
